Welcome to JaneDoesSecurity

Hello, and welcome to my corner of the internet.

I’m Jane — a cybersecurity professional who recently earned the CISSP and is now working towards the CCSP. I started this blog because I wanted a place to document what I’m learning, share practical advice, and connect with others on a similar path.

Why this blog?

Cybersecurity can feel overwhelming when you’re finding your feet. There’s so much to learn, and it’s not always obvious where to start. I’ve found that writing things down forces me to organise my thoughts and really understand the material, rather than just skimming the surface.

This blog is my way of doing that publicly. If something I write helps someone else along the way, even better.

What to expect

I’ll be writing about:

  • Certification journeys — honest accounts of studying for and sitting exams like the CISSP and CCSP
  • Home lab projects — I run a Raspberry Pi as a learning environment, and I’ll share what I’m building and experimenting with
  • Career reflections — lessons learned, mistakes made, and advice I wish I’d had earlier
  • Technical deep dives — breaking down security concepts in a way that’s approachable and practical

A bit about me

I come from an information management background and transitioned into cybersecurity because I was drawn to the problem-solving side of things. I’m endlessly curious about how systems work — and how they fail.

Outside of work, I’m usually tinkering with my Pi, reading about cloud security, or trying to convince myself that I don’t need another certification just yet.

Thanks for reading. I hope you’ll stick around.
